Wedding photography is a huge investment and takes a lot of trust. Doing a pre wedding shoot with the same photographer is a great way to get to know them before your big day. You and your partner can see if you like how the photos turn out and discuss anything you would like done differently on the actual wedding day. It is also a chance for the more camera shy to get used to having their photo taken.

Did you know most couples have less than an hour to take photos together on their wedding day? This doesn’t leave much opportunity for you to be creative! In a pre wedding shoot you will have the time to travel and take photos in different locations - or even another country! You can also try out trickier poses such as jumping, being lifted. or waiting for the sun to appear in just the right spot...

3. Dress Rehearsal

Does your strapless bra not stay in place? Should you have a few more bobby pins in that hair-do? Will your lipstick fade too fast? Don’t wait until the wedding day to find out - a pre wedding photo shoot is the perfect chance to give your whole ensemble a trial run!

4. Get the Most out of Your Dress

Are you buying your wedding dress? If you are, it’s likely to be something you love a lot (and will potentially spend a lot of money on). What a waste it would be to only wear it once! Enjoy dressing up like a princess and get as many photos as you can of yourself looking fabulous.

Pre-wedding photos have a practical use too! You can use them in the designs for your save the dates, wedding invitations, or (if you want to keep the dress a surprise) wedding favors for guests at the reception. With all the customizable products available these days the options are endless! Or how about printing them on a bunch of thank you cards so they’re ready to send after the big day? 

6. Take the photos you *really* want to take!

Finally, but most importantly, pre wedding photos are all about you and your partner. It is not uncommon for family to dictate the style of photos you take on your wedding day - everyone wants that portrait shot with the bride and groom! So think of a pre wedding shoot as an opportunity for you to really be yourselves. How about doing a photo shoot where you first met or had your first date?
